Technical Lead Biotechnology Eli Lilly
Graduated with a first class honours degree in Biochemistry with Industrial Experience from the University of Manchester UK in 1993. Completed PhD studies in protein folding and assembly at the University of Glasgow Scotland. In 1997 joined PPL Therapeutics in Edinburgh (the company behind Dolly the sheep) and was responsible for development/scale up of purification processes for therapeutics derived from transgenic milk and the manufacture of clinical trial material. Joined Eli Lilly Liverpool in 2001 as an MS&T Protein Scientist. Promoted to Leader Human Health MS&T in 2002 with responsibilities for manufacturing support/improvements and process development activities. In Q1 2007 transitioned into current role as Technical Services/Manufacturing Sciences Technical Lead for Biotechnology at Kinsale Ireland responsible for Lilly's 400m Euro biotechnology investment. In this current role he is part of the management team for the biotech expansion and provides technical input into all aspects of the programme. This has culminated with and on-time start up and successful validation of the first cell culture based process in the facility by the end of 2011. Technical representative on the CMC team for a number of programmes in clinical development.
