Interaction of Metals with Cells

Interaction of Metals with Cells

We are studying the uptake of trace elements and metals such as Iron, Copper, Zinc, Manganese and Selenium by in vitro differentiated models of intestinal epithelium. These trace elements are essential micronutrients, and we are comparing the impact of both inorganic and bound organic forms on the transcriptome and proteome of intestinal cells, and on Reactive Oxygen Species Generation. Part of the work involves a Strategic Research Partnership with Alltech Ltd.
